STEAM Week – Prep School

At The King’s School, Preparatory School, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) is an integral part of the IB Primary Years Programme.

In STEAM we introduce and develop scientific and technological concepts as well as foster curiosity and problem-solving skills. This equips our students with critical thinking abilities and prepares them for a future where technology and innovation are pivotal.

Students are actively involved in asking questions, conducting experiments, and discovering answers. This hands-on approach not only makes learning fun but also deepens their understanding. Through projects and activities, students learn to apply mathematical concepts, understand scientific principles, and use technology effectively.

Many STEAM activities require collaboration and by working in teams students enhance their communication skills and learn the value of diverse perspectives.

To celebrate the School’s STEAM Week, Prep boys have been undertaking several investigations, including looking at how circuits work, experimenting with natural resources and engineering by building shelters and exploring landscapes and topographic lines in our AR sandbox.

Most of all, STEAM class is a place of exploration and discovery, of finding out and trying new things – and having a lot of fun.
